Elon Musk has made the headlines several times over the past couple of weeks—not for anything remotely related to space. This time though, the SpaceX and Tesla CEO said he would sell stock in his company if the UN World Food Programme (WFP) was able to prove that $6 billion could solve world hunger.
Where did this all come from? CNN reported that the chief of WFP said that 2% of Musk’s wealth would be able to end world hunger. However, Dr. Eli David, a reacher and CEO, pointed out that whilst $6 billion equates to 2% of Musk's net worth increase, the WFP received contributions of roughly $8.4 billion and still hadn’t solved world hunger.
David Beasley, chief of the WFP, turned to Twitter to set straight the misconstrued messages.

Beasley explained that $6 billion will not solve world hunger, however, it would “prevent geopolitical instability, mass migration and save 42 million people on the brink of starvation.”
